Bespoke and custom pallets in Southampton
Not every product fits a standard pallet. When something is too long, too tall, too heavy in one spot or simply an odd shape, a made-to-order pallet built around the load is safer and often cheaper than forcing it onto the wrong footprint.
When a custom pallet is the right answer
Around Southampton, the requests we see most often come from marine and engineering workshops, automotive parts operations, builders and construction suppliers, and manufacturers shipping finished goods that were never designed to sit on a standard deck.
Footprint and overhang
Products that overhang a 1200 x 1000mm or 1200 x 800mm deck get damaged in transit and jam in racking. A purpose-built footprint usually costs less than repeated damage.
Load and weight distribution
Where weight is concentrated rather than spread — engine parts, paving, machinery, glass — board thickness, bearer layout and block positions matter more than overall size.
How it is handled
Two-way or four-way entry, forklift or telehandler, pump truck on a flat floor, or repeated lifting by hand all change the right build.
Where it ends up
Racking, a container, a lorry curtain-side, an outdoor yard or a hygienic indoor area each pull the specification in a different direction.
How we work through it
- 1. You describe the load. Dimensions, weight, how it is lifted and where it goes. Photographs or a sketch help more than a paragraph.
- 2. We challenge the brief. If a standard or modified used pallet does the job, we will say so rather than quote something purpose-built you do not need.
- 3. We confirm what we can build. Size, specification, quantity and a realistic date, in writing, before you commit.

Bespoke pallet questions
- What information do you need to quote a bespoke pallet?
- The overall length, width and height of what you are putting on it, the weight, how the item is lifted, whether the pallet goes into racking or a container, and how many you need. If you are unsure of any of it, say so — we would rather ask questions than guess.
- Is there a minimum quantity for custom pallets?
- No. There is no minimum order for buying pallets. For made-to-order work, send the size, specification and quantity and we will quote for what you need.
- Can a bespoke pallet be made from used timber?
- Sometimes a modified or repaired standard pallet solves the problem more cheaply than a purpose-built one. We will tell you if that is the case instead of quoting new timber by default.
- Do bespoke pallets cover export requirements?
- Export timber specifications such as ISPM 15 are handled as a specific enquiry. Tell us the destination and the specification you have been asked for and we will confirm what we can supply; the group has a separate site dedicated to export pallet compliance.
